Bible Verses About Offerings

In today's fast-paced world, where material wealth often takes center stage, we can find ourselves constantly striving for more. Yet, the Bible offers us a different perspective, encouraging us to lay up treasures in heaven rather than on earth. It speaks to the importance of generosity, not only as an act of kindness but as a way to draw closer to God and store up riches that last for eternity.

This blog post will explore a collection of powerful Bible verses about offerings, shedding light on this profound spiritual activity mentioned.

These verses teach us not only about giving but also about seeking God's kingdom in our finances and provision, compassion for the needy, and the blessings that flow from giving unto the Lord with a generous heart.

Exploring Bible Verses About Offerings

Lay Up Treasures in Heaven

Matthew 6:19-21 - Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Seek First the Kingdom of God

Matthew 6:33-34 - But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

The Widow's Offering

Mark 12:41-44 - And he sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny. And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”

Give, and It Will Be Given to You

Luke 6:38 - Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.

Remember the Words of the Lord Jesus

Acts 20:35 - In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’

Contribute to the Needs of the Saints

Romans 12:13 - Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.

Encouragement to Give Generously

2 Corinthians 8:1-5 - We want you to know, brothers, about the grace of God that has been given among the churches of Macedonia, for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord, begging us earnestly for the favor of taking part in the relief of the saints— and this, not as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then by the will of God to us.

Excel in the Grace of Giving

2 Corinthians 8:7-9 - But as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all earnestness, and in our love for you—see that you excel in this act of grace also. I say this not as a command, but to prove by the earnestness of others that your love also is genuine. For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.

Give According to What You Have

2 Corinthians 8:12 - For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have.

The Cheerful Giver

2 Corinthians 9:6-7 - The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

God Will Enrich You

2 Corinthians 9:10-11 - He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.

God Will Supply Every Need

Philippians 4:17-19 - Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit. I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Instructions for the Rich

1 Timothy 6:17-19 - As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.

Do Not Neglect to Do Good

Hebrews 13:16 - Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
